Abilasha’s Story

To me, food is a simple joy that connects us. It connects us with people from all walks of life over one shared experience, our universal language. It also connects us with our unique mind, body & spirit.

My interest in Ayurveda was first sparked during my time at University. I loved the student lifestyle, although, along with my very challenging degree it had me feeling completely exhausted and burnt out.

After completing my Physics degree I went backpacking across Latin America for 6 months, where my cooking journey continued. Whilst I was away, I reconnected with my North Indian roots through the comfort of cooking with local vegetables and spices for Latin friends. I realised in these moments how much joy it brought me to share these unique spice blends and infusions with loved ones, which became the inspiration for a business where I could do just this.

Why Ayurveda?

I turned to cooking as a healing & restorative ritual and making a simple chai and golden mylk became my way of de-stressing and calming. The health benefits of these unique spice blends and flavour infusions led me to Ayurveda, the ancient wisdom of keeping our mind & body in balance for optimum wellness.

Ice cream has and always will be one of my most loved foods, but since turning plant-based I had always found it impossible to find brands which had clean ingredients and still tasted good.

Moonji ice cream is not only delicious and all natural, but goes one step further in making your body feel nourished too. I created Moonji out of my combined love for both vegan ice cream, Ayurveda and adaptogens and I hope that you love it as much as we do!

Moonji’s Story

After 8 months of recipe developing, the magic began in the Summer of 2019 where Abi served her ice cream at The Chef’s Manifesto Event at Omved Gardens. Abi received wonderful feedback from many experienced and high-profile Chefs and shortly after the event she got her first listing at acclaimed vegan restaurant Farmacy in both London & New York.

This was followed by listings at The Parlour in Fortnum & Masons, and more recently at London’s first organic supermarket, Planet Organic.
